A bunch of us decided to drive to Los Angeles (LA) over the long weekend of July 04, 2020. Right before we started on our 5 hours long drive to Downtown LA, our group chat was abuzz with messages detailing the activities that we were going to do over the weekend and what our friends in LA had planned for us. Considering the fact that most of LA was in a state of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our options were limited. Our plans revolved around going to secluded places for picnics, cooking good food at home and relaxing on the balcony of our friends’ apartment.
I hardly ever travel without a camera and I wasn’t going to make this trip an exception. I decided to carry my newly acquired Pentax K1000 with 3 rolls of Ilford HP5 Plus 400. My portable camera bag also had 2 lenses - SMC Pentax-M 50mm f2, and Albinar 135mm f2.8. Bare in mind that I have very little experience with film photography, Pentax systems, and those focal lengths. Armed with knowledge from videos by Matt Day about the camera, and Frederik Trovatten about the film, I was looking forward to what I could create with these tools.
